Dinner at Nielsen is served from 17:00-21:00
East Iceland is particularly rich in great local produce, both fresh fish, meat, vegetables and wild game and herbs, everything a chef could ask for. Therefore, the main focus of our constantly evolving hearty menu is local and seasonal ingredients. We have for example vegetables from organic farm Vallanes (17km from Nielsen), dairy from Egilsstaðir farm, fresh fish from the East fjords and wild game (e.g. reindeer) and herbs from the highlands of East Iceland. All this local produce is harvested at the peak of their flavors preserved (e.g. dried, pickled, salted or smoked) or used fresh depending on availability.
On the menu you will see a selection of degustation plates (smaller portions) that give you and your seatmate(s) a chance to try and share the flavors of East Iceland. We recommend 2-3 plates per person to fill up empty stomachs, but you can also start off slowly and order more later, the choice is yours.
